Through the distribution of a healthy variety of foods and goods, and ever more diverse strategies designed to enhance the lives of Fort Saskatchewan residents in times of need, we serve to strengthen the foundations and futures of families and the community at large, and to vanquish not just the sharp pangs of an empty stomach, but the stigma associated with the asking for, and acceptance of much needed help.

Help yourself to a food hamper by phoning in to the Food Bank on a Hamper Day to register. Please note that hamper requests made via email will not be accepted.

Hamper Days are:

Tuesday: 10am — 7pm
Thursday: 10am — 5pm

OR

Hampers may be picked up on Hamper Days at the Nourishment Centre during hours of operation. Eligible individuals, families or seniors may receive a hamper once per month, if needed (for example, if a hamper is picked up on June 8th, another hamper would be available on July 8th or anytime after).

Registration requirements include photo ID for all adults, Government ID for each member of the household (Alberta Health Care card or birth certificate), and proof of residency within Fort Saskatchewan.

Photo identification options that are accepted:

  • Driver’s License
  • Provincial ID Card
  • Treaty Status Card
  • Passport
  • Identification showing your Fort Saskatchewan Address: Acceptable Proof of Residency Includes: A Current Utility Bill, Lease or Rental Agreement, or Government-Issued Mail

The Fort Saskatchewan Food Gatherers Society is a registered charity which operates the Fort Saskatchewan Food Bank, Christmas Hamper Campaign, School Snack Program, and various other essential programs and services from the Fort Saskatchewan Nourishment Centre in order to serve a little hope and happiness to the people of Fort Saskatchewan in various times of need.
